The EL1551U is another part of NITEK's cutting-edge EtherStretch line.  This environmentally hardened solution provides a means to create a 10/100 Ethernet link over single pair Cat3 (or better cabling) for distances up to 300m.  Multiple links can share individual pairs in Cat5/6 or similar cabling.  Shielded and non-twisted cabling will have reduced operating distances.  Larger gauge conductors will improve power transfer. The EL1551U consists of a transmitter unit (adjacent to the camera or other network device), and a receiver unit, for the headend.  The receiver will request power From a PoE switch to power the link, or local power can be provided with an optional PS48 power supply.  In the case of longer runs, or higher power applications, power can be injected at the remote transmitter side as well with an optional PS48 supply, providing full 802.3at power of 25.5W.
